Jewelry is a purely decorative accessory made of material considered to be precious or aesthetically pleasing. Archeological remains indicate that such materials as shells, worked bone or ivory, and amber or shiny rocks were made into Jewelry in prehistoric time.

As technological skills developed and new expensive materials are use such as, gold, silver, metal, and gems such as diamonds and rubies increase the value of Jewelry.

Jewelry styles are subject to changes in fashion. Many people purchase antique or collectable Jewelry not only because they hope that its value will appreciate, but also because of its beauty.

Different Items of Jewelry for Women:

The individual items of Jewelry those are most likely to be worn:

  1. Brooch or pin
  2. Ring
  3. Necklace
  4. Bracelet
  5. Earring
  6. Parure

These are shortly discussed in below:

1. Brooch or pin:

Ornamental Jewelry for women made with a pin fastener on the back that has a safety catch. Made in all types of materials e.g. Gold, Silver, Plated Metals, Rocks etc. Brooches are frequently set with gems or imitation stones.

2. Ring:

Ring is one of the most popular Jewelry for women that is worn on the finger. Before the mid- 1960s, rings were worn on the third finger and the little finger. After this time to now, it was fashionable to wear on any of the fingers.


3. Necklace:

Necklaces were worn around the neck. Frequently made of beads, and sometimes made real or imitation gems set in Gold, Silver or other metals. Necklaces can be made from an enormous variety of materials. An expensive Necklace is a status symbol also.


4. Bracelet:

Bracelet is a decorative band or circlet that worn on the arm, wrist, or ankle as an ornament. Bracelets can be made of metal, chains, plastic, wood, leather, textile, or Lucite, either in one piece or in links.


5. Earring:

Earring is the most common decorative jewelry for women that worn on the ear. The ear may be pierced and small wires or posts inserted. For un pierced ears, earrings are held in place with screw or clip backs. From the 17th c. to the 1980s, men rarely wore earrings, but over the last two decades the fashion of earrings for men returned.

In the early 1980s, double or triple ear piercing become a fashion with two and three sets of earrings being worn one or both ears.


6. Parure:

A Parure is a set of matching  jewelry for women that may consist of a Necklace, Earring, Brooch or pin, Ring, and Bracelet.


Some jewelry is attached to garments, some wraps around arms, legs, fingers, or necks.And some jewelry is attached by body piercing. Especially women and young girls are widely user different types of jewelry.
