Fashionable Shawls for Women:
A shawl is larger than a scarf which is also either decorative or utilitarian and is worn draped around the shoulders, the neck or over the head for warmth or adornment . Scarves may be square , oblong or triangular and made of knitted , crocheted or woven fabric . Servers can be so small that they only fit around the neck or large enough to cover the shoulders and much of the upper body . They may be a solid color , printed or woven in various , patterns or have applied ornamentation such as beads , spangles or embroidery .
Different Types of Fashionable Shawls:
1. Beach poncho:
Oblong terrycloth punch that can be laid flat for use as a towel at the beach.
Any small cape, a cape collar, attached or detachable, on a coat, dress or suit.
3. Cashmere show:
Any shawl made from cashmere fiber which is exceptionally fine, soft & expensive.
Fringed shawl made by hand crocheting usually in a lacy pattern. Made in oblong, semicircular or triangular shapes.
A large shawl, usually black, worn with a small mask for traditional carnival and masquerade costume.
6. Fishnet Porch:
Square medium sized poncho made of fishnet or see through fabric with a high large turtleneck collar. The edge of the color & the hem is trimmed with ball fringe.
7. Fur Stole:
Turn used in 20th c. for waist length fur cape with elongated ends in front, sometimes trimmed with tails of animals. May also be made in an oblong shape.

9. Paisley shawl:
Shawl with a pailey disinn . This design is a cone or leaf pattern called a botch, which originates in India. Many of the earliest shawls imported to Europe from India in the 18th c. were woven in this design and become so popular that they were imitated by textile mills in the town of paisley in Scotland. They soon became known as paisley shawls and the characteristic design.
10. Piano Poncho Shawl:
Shawl-like fashion item shaped like a square or a small oblong blanket with hole in center for the head. Frequently fringed around the edges. Variafringed around the edges. Variations include a utilitarian garment consisting of waterproofed fabric with a slash in the center for the head. When worn, it was used as a rain cape; when not worn ,could be used as a tarpaulin or a blanket.

15. Spanish Shawls:
Large embroidery silk shawl, usually made in China then shipped to Spain, where the long silk fringe was added. When used as a warp, the shawl was folded diagonally with the point in center at the back and the ends thrown loosely over the shoulders.
