Fashion Influence Personality:

Do clothes have a language of their own? And what do they speak about you without you knowing it? It isn’t hard to see. Starting today, you can keep a careful watch while choosing your fashion.

Fashion is something we deal with everyday. Even people who say they don’t care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day.

French fashion designer Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

One certain thing in the fashion world is change. We are constantly being bombarded with new fashion ideas from music, videos, books, and television. Movies also have a big impact on what people wear. Ray-Ban sold more sunglasses after the movie Men In Black. Sometimes a trend is world-wide. Back in the 1950s, teenagers everywhere dressed like Elvis Presley.

Fashion is an endless popularity contest:

High fashion is the style of a small group of men and women with a certain taste and authority in the fashion world. People of wealth and position, buyers for major department stores, editors and writers for fashion magazines are all part of Haute Couture (“High Fashion” in French). Some of these expensive and often artistic fashions may triumph and become the fashion for the larger majority. Most stay on the runway.

Popular fashions are close to impossible to trace. No one can tell how the short skirts and boots worn by teenagers in England in 1960 made it to the runways of Paris, or how blue jeans became so popular in the U.S., or how hip-hop made it from the streets of the Bronx to the Haute Couture fashion shows of London and Milan.

It’s easy to see what’s popular by watching sit-coms on television: the bare mid-riffs and athletic clothes of 90210, the baggy pants of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But the direction of fashion relies on “plugged-in” individuals to react to events, and trends in music, art and books.

“In the perspective of costume history, it is plain that the dress of any given period is exactly suited to the actual climate of the time.” according to James Laver, a noted English costume historian. How did bell-bottom jeans fade into the designer jeans and boots look of the 1980s into the baggy look of the 1990s? Nobody really knows.Once identified, fashions begin to change. Fashion influence your personality remarkably. It helps to selection of dress which influences all kinds of impressions. It is an expression of personality.

Effects of fashion on our personality:

Here are brief descriptions of the four fashion personality types.

Sporty Natural Fashion Personality:

You want comfort and ease. You probably don’t like to iron and prefer a very easy to care for hair style. You may not like to get dressed up. Your friends think you wear the same outfit frequently because you end up wearing the same few comfortable things or have the same style in different colors that you wear over and over.

Time-less Classic Fashion Personality:

You probably like classic styles. You may prefer tailored clothes. Think Ann Taylor and Ann Klein clothing. You don’t waste your money on fads and may be slow to adopt trends.

There’s no hard and fast rule for choosing fashion but just a sensible approach while picking up an outfit. Clothe and dress play a vital role in fashion. Most of people love to fashion by their outfit.

Nowadays, one can find lots of options for their outerwear. These also give variance to clothing which can become monotonous after sometime. For instance, you could pick up a knitwear out of many merino knitwear styles and colours or cashmere knitwear, to make a sensible choice by having lots of variance in your wardrobe. While shopping for trousers, go for casual trousers for a change rather than picking up the formal trousers again.

It is common in today’s professional environment for people to wear their “formal” outfits such as cotton twill shirts during office hours and their casual clothes during night time. Dressing yourself appropriately comes naturally. It is something you can’t pretend. One has to look good whether he is in a party or just relaxing at home. The clothing we choose tells something about our personality too. Also a dressing style is a personalized thing which changes from person to person. But the most important thing is it reflects one’s personality.

Fashion is one of those industries that are constantly experiencing tremendous changes. The wide range of men shirts includes men’s polo shirts, men’s casual shirts, sweatshirts and men’s evening shirts. To pick one garment per the occasion is not too difficult. Yet other varieties in men’s shirt include; double cuff shirts, single cuff shirts and cotton twill shirts.

People with a slight quirky personality used to be the only ones who could truly pull off vintage clothes but even that is now ‘in’. Just because something has a vintage feel to it does not mean in any way that it is…especially if you bought it from a high street store! As well as the shops, celebrities (whether we like it or not) are a massive influence on what we wear. They are the ones that give us inspiration when throwing an outfit together, but even they don’t reflect their true personalities by their choice of clothing. Most of the time they are told what to wear by someone else.

I personally believe that clothes are a way of expressing yourself depending on a situation. The way in which someone styles their hair, the hair cut, the color and what they do with it each day goes hand in hand with the clothes. For me the only way in which to really gain a true perspective of someone’s personality is to spend time with them and get to know the individual person.
