Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. The most inspiring and famous fashion designers whose creations have been accepted by a large number of people across the world. Here is a list of such trendsetting fashion designers in the world. I have also published one article on List of Top Ten Fashion Designers in the World.
Most Trendsetting Fashion Designers:
(Born 11 July 1934) is an Italian fashion designer, particularly noted for his menswear. He is known today for clean, tailored lines. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy , with an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a personal fortune of $7 billion as of 2012. Armani is also the first ever designer to ban models who has a body Mass index under 18. He is truly a living legend and a great fashion designer.
Charles Frederick Worth:
(French: 13 October 1825-10 March 1895), widely considered the Father of Haute couture, was an English fashion designer of the of the 19th century, whose works were produced in paris.
Claire Mc Cardell (1905-1958) was an American fashion designer in the arena of ready to wear clothing in the 20th century. From the 1930s to the 1950s, she was known for designing functional, affordable and stylish women’s sportswear within the constraints of mass-production, and is today acknowledged as the creator of the “American Look”, a democratic and casual approach to fashion that rejected the formality of French couture.
Adrian Adolph Greenberg :
Adrian Adolph Greenberg (March 3, 1903-September 13, 1959), most widely known as Adrian, was an American costume designer whose most famous costumes were for The Wizard of Oz and other Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer films of the 1930s and 1940s. During his career, he designed costumes for over 250 films and his screen credits usually read as “Gowns by Adrian”. On occasion , he was credited as Gilbert Adrian, a combination of his father’s forename and his own. Adrian designed costumes for over 200 films. Adrian was most famous for his evening gown designs for big female actress.
Elsa Schiaparelli (10 September 1830-13 November 1973) was an Italian fashion designer. Along with Coco Chanel, her greatest rival, she is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World wars. Starting with kneetwear,Schiaparell’s designs were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dali and Alberto Giacometti. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West. Schiaparelli did not adapt to the changes in fashion following World War 2 and her.
Christian Dior (21 January 1905,Granville, Manche-23 October 1957, Montecatini), was an influential French fashion designer, best known as the founder of one of world’s top fashion houses, also called Christian Dior.
Karl Lagerfeld (Born Karl Otto Lagerfeld on September 10, 1933 in Hamburg) is a German fashion designer, artist and photographer based in Paris, France. He has collaborated on a variety of fashion and art related projects, most notably as head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel. Lagerfeld helms his own label fashion house, as well as the Italian house Fend.
Mary Quant (Born 11 February 1934) is a Welsh fashion designer and British fashion icon, who was instrumental in the instrumental in the mod fashion movement. She was one of the designers who took credit for inventing the miniskirt and hot pants. Ernestine Carter, one of the most authoritative and influential fashion writers of the twentieth century, wrote: ‘It is given to a fortunate few to be born at the right time, in the right place, with the right talents. In recent fashion there are three: Chanel, Dior and Mary Quant: The 1960s were the right time for Quant. The decade was characterized by the rise of youth culture in Britain.
Bibi Russel is a fashion designer and former international model from Bangladesh. Born in Chittagong, Bangladesh, she studied in London College of Fashion, earning a graduate degree in 1975. In the next five years, she worked as a model for different magazines including Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar. She also worked as a fashion model in fashion shows until 1994, working with Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio. Having returned to Bangladesh in 1994, Bibi opened Bibi productions, her own fashion house, fusing indigenous Bengali cultural elements into her line. With assistance from UNESCO, she organized her first European fashion show in Paris in 1996. As of 2004, her company employed 35,000 weavers in rural Bangladesh. Her entrepreneurship has earned her many awards. The Asia week magazine highlighted her as “one of the 20 people to watch in the millennium.
The famous and popular all over the world by everyone who knew his brand, Calvin Richard Klein (CK) is a brilliant American fashion designer who launched the company that would later become Calvin Klein Inc. in 1968. He initiated his career by opening a store of men and women’s coat in New York City. Since then, he hasn’t looked behind and has expanded his business with an incredible pace ruling the fashion industry very strongly. He truly deserves to be the number 1 fashion designer in the world 2012. In addition to clothing , Klein has also given his name to a range of perfumes, watches and jewelry.
Versace was born in the Italian city of Reggio Calabria, the youngest of four children in her family. Her father was a personal financier to the Italian aristocracy. An older sister, Tina, died at the age of twelve from an importantly treated tetanus infection. In the mid 1970s, Donatella followed her older brother, Giovanni (“Gianni”), to pursure knitwear design in Florence, Italy. Donatella had planned to work for her brother as Public Relations, but she was more valuable to Gianni as a “muse and critic”, according to Donatella during an interview with Vogue. Though her closeness to her brothers enterprises. Donatella plunged into the fashion world. A decade later, during the 1980s, Gianni launched a perfume dedicated to her own diffusion label, Versus, which remains a well known Versace inner line.
His name is Valentino Garavani. He is the powerful and famous fashion designer. He started his business in 1959 when he established his own fashion house in Rome.
Valentino, however, became known for creating the dresses that Jacqueline kennedy wore for a year after the assassination of her husband, the late President John F. Kennedy. Since then, Valentino has been known to hohnob with the powerful and the famous. Royalty from Belgium and the United Kingdom wears his designs. But that does not mean the Valentino does not know how to loosen up. In 2006, he agreed to appear in a cameo “ The wears prada”.
Who would have thought that the name Chanel would be one of the leading figures. In fashion world? Born Gabrielle “Coco” Bonheur Chanel, she is a excellent French fashion designer, founder of the well known Chanel brand, whose modernist thought, practical design, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her an important and influential figure in 20th century fashion. She was the only fashion designer to be named on Time 100: The most important people of the century.
There is no doubt about this incredible guy, Ralph Lauren “Ralph Lipschitz”to in this list. He is an excellent American fashion designer and business executive and is best known for his “Polo Ralph Lauren” clothing brand. In 1972, Lauren earned his fame when he introduced a notable short sleeve shirt which Polo logo on it.
Kate Brosnahan Spade (born Katherine Noel Brosnahan; December 24, 1962) is the co-founder and name sake of the designer brand-Kate Spade New York. She holds a graduate degree in journalism from Arizona State University. She is widely known for her designer hand bags and is considered to be one of the best bags around. She there after set out to create bags with classic shops and colors. The end evor, sleepwear, eyewear and even stationaris and personal organizers. Her product line now includes home items, like bedding and towels and China.
I’m off the hook if we are talking about this man of brilliant designs- Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc. Once derived by Oscar deal Renta for being a copyist, Jacobs does not hide the fact that his designs always use the style of the previous decades as basis. He firsts worked in an avant garde clothing boutique in New York, before moving on to bigger things with the likes of perry Ellis and Louis Vuitton. Among his notable collections were grunge line for perry Ellis that failed, and very first ready to wear collection form Louis Vuitton that proved to be a success.
He is the designer credited which the turn around of the Gucci fashion house from near bankruptey to a $10 billion company. Ford was able to make fashion glamorous again with his ground breaking designs in 1994 involving hipsters, satin, shirts and metallic boots. He then moved to yves saint Laurent after the company was bought by Gucci, and Ford, proved his Midas touch at Gucci was no fluko when he got YSL back into the main stream once more. The advertising campaigns he conceptualized for the YSL fragr a lines were hailed for its creativity and commercial impact. Unfortunately, he had to part ways which Gucci after a struggle for artistic control did not end in his favour. But fortunately, Ford’s artistic level is so high that he made a sameless transition into movie directing, as he helmed a film that got Academy, Award nominations.
Her designs are considered quickly and unusual, and her association with artists like the velvet underground and loureed probably bought this about. Her first collection in the 1970s proved to be popular with rock and rool musicians. Her line now includes bags, scarves and accessories.
